Your Candidates
Hi - you may be curious as to what you would be voting for if you select me for Fairburn City Council on May 19th, 2026.
I am James Hurst, and I live in Fairburn. This is the first that I have ever run for an elected office. For most of my adult life I have been an engineer, thus I can't really say much on my 'experience' for this office so, I'll just say a few things about myself.
Please feel free to contact me at any time. I will always respond, within 24 hours unless I am travelling or being held captive by alien creatures (and even then I will try to be prompt). My email-address is JamesHurst@udelity.com
If you elect me, then as councilman I promise you ..
- I shall do my very best to choose wisely when I vote upon any proposed legislation. I believe in good governance, not parties.
- I will ***never*** sell my vote or any other duty as a councilman for money or personal favor. I am not corruptible.
- If you want me to propose new legislation, to change a city statute, or to vote a certain way -- talk to me. As a Fairburn citizen you are my constituent. I value you. Contact me and I will always respond.
- I may make mistakes, or miss something or have to educate myself on something that is new to me. But I commit to you that I will never lie. If I don't know something I will say simply "I don't know" and may commit to finding out.
- I shall keep in contact with you, my constituents. If you elect me then I will expand my webpage to enable you to login, add your own contact-info, and from then on I'll include you in my monthly email messages (or text-message if you so choose).
- For our city-level services and issues, I am intending to strive to preserve our freedom to live our lives, to simplify our gov. processes, to cut time and cost where possible when we can do this whilst being true to the reason for a given process, and to make things easier. We all know that government at all levels tends to grow in red-tape, to become complicated, and it makes up more of your time and energy that it really needs to. I want to help us improve in this.
Good Governance, just as Good Engineering -- is something that is important to me. In a very real sense it is a sacred duty. I hope you will choose me, give me a try, and connect with me to share what your own needs are and how I can be of service.
Thank you, citizens of Fairburn.
Your humble servant, James
PS: I just threw this webpage up at the last minute -- sorry for the crudeness. I'll expand and refine it ASAP.
